Stay Connected With Emergency Location Updates

Emergency Mode GPS Tracking is triggered either by a family member activating emergency mode in the app, pressing the physical SOS button on the pendant or automatically when a fall is detected.

How Emergency GPS Tracking Works

  1. Activate Emergency Mode: An SOS alert or supported fall detection event automatically activates Emergency Mode. Caregivers can also activate Emergency Mode manually through the SecuPro App.
  2. Frequent GPS Updates: The SOS Pendant begins reporting GPS location updates every minute.
  3. Monitor Location: Caregivers can view updated GPS locations through the SecuPro App.
  4. Emergency Tracking Duration: Emergency Mode continues for up to one hour unless manually deactivated.

Emergency Tracking and Battery Performance

Emergency Mode prioritizes frequent GPS updates over battery conservation. The increased tracking frequency uses more power than standard or extended GPS tracking intervals.

Battery-Saving Tip: Emergency GPS tracking is designed for urgent situations. For everyday use, maintain a longer GPS tracking interval to help preserve battery life.
Important Note: Emergency Mode may temporarily override your standard GPS tracking interval to prioritize location updates during an emergency.

Request an Updated GPS Location Anytime

Need to check the pendant wearer's location between scheduled GPS updates? Use the SecuPro App to refresh the current available location without permanently changing your tracking frequency.

How to Refresh GPS Location

  1. Open the SecuPro App.
  2. Tap Map to view the reported location.
  3. Tap Update Location to refresh your device’s current location.

Manual Refresh and Battery Performance

Manual Location Refresh allows caregivers to request additional location updates between scheduled GPS tracking intervals. This provides flexibility without requiring the pendant to operate continuously at its shortest tracking interval.

Battery-Saving Tip: Instead of setting GPS tracking to every minute, use Manual Location Refresh when an additional location check is needed. This helps preserve battery life with location monitoring.
Important Note: GPS location updates depend on cellular connectivity, satellite signal availability, and device status.

Senior Safety Device Setup, FAQs & Troubleshooting

🔍 Type your issue or question in the search box above to view instant answers.
Why is my SecuLife senior GPS smartwatch battery draining so quickly?
Frequent GPS location updates, emergency tracking, and weak cellular coverage can increase battery consumption. To extend battery life, select a longer GPS tracking interval in the SecuPro Mobile App. Battery performance varies by model, tracking frequency, and cellular conditions.
How can I make my SecuLife SOS Pendant or GPS wristband battery last longer?
Choose less frequent GPS location updates, keep the device properly charged, and check cellular connectivity. Longer tracking intervals generally conserve battery. Review the recommended settings for your model.
Why isn't my SecuLife senior safety device charging?
Check that the charging cable is securely connected and the charging contacts are clean, dry, and properly aligned. Try another compatible USB power source. If charging still fails, contact SecuLife Support.
Does SOS emergency tracking use more battery?
Yes. SecuLife emergency mode increases location reporting to approximately once per minute for up to one hour after a supported SOS or fall detection event. More frequent location updates increase battery consumption.
Why is my SecuLife GPS tracker showing the wrong location?
GPS accuracy can vary indoors, near tall buildings, or where location reception is limited. Check the last location update in SecuPro, verify cellular connectivity, and allow the device to obtain a newer location reading outdoors when safe.
Why is my parent's GPS smartwatch showing an old location?
The displayed location may be the last successfully reported position. Check the update timestamp, GPS tracking interval, battery, and cellular connection. A location displayed on the map is not necessarily current.
Why is my SecuLife device showing offline?
An offline status may indicate that the device cannot communicate with the service. Check battery, power, cellular coverage, and active service plan. If it remains offline, contact support.
Does SecuLife GPS tracking work without Wi-Fi?
SecuLife senior safety devices use built-in cellular connectivity to communicate location information with SecuPro. A separate Wi-Fi connection is not required for normal cellular tracking. Cellular coverage is required for remote updates.
Why didn't I receive a geofence alert when my parent left home?
Check that the safe zone is enabled, its boundary is positioned correctly, and exit notifications are activated. Review the device's last GPS update and cellular connection. Delayed location reporting or notification delivery may delay the alert.
Why are SecuLife geofence notifications delayed?
Geofence alerts depend on the device reporting its location and the alert reaching the recipient. GPS update frequency, cellular connectivity, and phone notification settings can affect timing.
How do I fix a SecuLife safe zone that isn't sending notifications?
Verify the safe zone's location, boundary, and notification settings in SecuPro. Confirm the device is reporting locations and the caregiver is authorized to receive alerts. Check phone notification permissions.
Can I receive an alert when my elderly parent arrives home?
Yes. SecuPro supports safe-zone arrival and departure notifications. Configure a geofence around the home and enable notifications for authorized caregivers.
Why isn't my SecuLife SOS button sending an emergency alert?
Check that the device is powered on, connected to cellular service, and has the correct emergency contacts saved. Verify SOS alert settings and recipient notification permissions. Follow button instructions for your model. During a real emergency, contact emergency services directly.
Why does my SecuLife SOS button make a call but not send a text alert?
Emergency calling and text notifications use different settings and delivery methods. Verify that the recipient is configured for SMS alerts and the phone number is correct. Check alert history and contact support if the problem continues.
Why didn't my SecuLife device detect a fall?
Automatic fall detection uses sensors and algorithms. Not every fall or movement pattern can be identified. Check that fall detection is enabled and review supported sensitivity settings. Never rely exclusively on automatic detection during an emergency.
Why does my senior smartwatch keep sending false fall alerts?
Certain movements or impacts may resemble a fall. Review fall detection sensitivity in SecuPro and adjust if supported. Lower sensitivity may reduce false alerts but could reduce detection of actual falls.
Why isn't my daughter receiving SecuLife alerts after I added her phone number?
Adding a number to an approved calling list does not necessarily enable SOS texts or SecuPro app notifications. Check whether your daughter was added as an emergency alert recipient, authorized app caregiver, or only a calling contact. Enable the appropriate notifications and save changes.
What's the difference between an emergency contact and a SecuPro caregiver?
An emergency contact may receive calls or texts during SOS events. An authorized SecuPro caregiver can access supported monitoring features through the app. Approved callers, emergency recipients, and app access are separate settings.
Why can my son call my SecuLife watch but not see my GPS location?
Permission to call the device does not automatically provide SecuPro monitoring access. Confirm your son has authorized access through the app and his account is connected correctly.
Can multiple family members receive SecuLife emergency alerts?
Yes. SecuPro supports multiple caregivers and emergency notification recipients. Configure the appropriate details and notification permissions for each person.
Why am I receiving SOS text messages but no app notifications?
SMS and app push notifications use different channels. Check that SecuPro notifications are enabled in the app and your phone settings. Confirm you are signed into the authorized caregiver account.
How can I monitor my elderly parent if we live in different states?
SecuLife cellular GPS devices allow authorized caregivers to view location information remotely through SecuPro when the device has compatible cellular coverage and an active plan. Caregivers can also receive supported notifications.
Why isn't the SecuPro Mobile App updating my parent's location?
Check the device's last reported location, cellular connectivity, battery, and tracking interval. Confirm your phone has internet access. If the device is offline, the app may display its last known location.
Why am I not receiving low-battery alerts?
Check device and caregiver notification settings. Confirm your phone allows SecuPro notifications and the device has cellular connectivity to report battery status.
Can I use SecuLife without carrying a smartphone?
The wearer does not need to carry a smartphone for normal operation of a compatible SecuLife cellular safety device. Caregivers use SecuPro on their own compatible phones to monitor and configure features.
How do I add another family member to my SecuLife safety device?
Use SecuPro family or caregiver management to grant authorized access. Separately configure emergency contacts, approved callers, and notification recipients according to that person's needs.
